Natives will gleefully tell you that In Italy in the summer, love is always in the air!  And nowhere more so than In the Tuscany region, the inspiration for Toscana Divino, because the beautiful vistas of the city from places, such as the Boboli Gardens, lend themselves to romantic interludes for couples of all ages and stages in their lives.  There’s no doubt that Italy is the world’s most romantic destination and summertime is when thousands arrive to explore it.   Love in Italy transcends beyond personal relationships to include a love for art, music, dance and, of course, just the passion, joy and beauty of life itself — la dolce vita.

In fact, the key figure in the Romanticism movement, poet Percy Bysse Shelley, wrote, “No sooner had we arrived in Italy than the loveliness of the earth and the serenity of the sky made the greatest difference in my sensations.”

What accompanies all this love? Food, of course!

Italy’s stellar cuisine and culinary traditions focus in the summer and throughout the entire country on two elements: Il Pesce (Fish) and Vino Bianco (White Wine).  That’s why, for August 2018, we’ll be hosting a week-long celebration to highlight our seafood house specialties, delicately prepared by our Chef Andrea Marchesin, and select white wines that our discerning clients have come to love and that Toscana Divino is known for in Miami and beyond.

The 2018 Toscana Divino Seafood Festival will begin on Friday, August 17th and will take place each day until Sunday, August 26th.  Here’s what you can expect….

L’Aperitivo Italiano (in our indoor and outdoor bar and cocktail area) — For $9 guests can enjoy Piattini (small plates) of Red Shrimp Lollipops and Scallops Skewers, as well as our permanent selection of Italian-style tapas to accompany our house specialty cocktails and extensive selection of Italian wines, beers and spirits.

A Tavola (at the lunch or dinner table) — For prices that range from $14 to $24, guests will enjoy a selection of seafood appetizers, including Salmon or Tuna Tartare, Octopus Puttanesca and Shrimp Salad.  Featured seafood entrees, which range from $26 to $34, include Spaghetti alle Vongole e Bottarga, Carbonara di Mare, Black Spaghetti, Yellowfin Tuna, Mediterranean Branzino and Brown Trout.

Featured Wines — our sommeliers have chosen white and rosé wines that will pair perfectly with our seafood dishes and will be featured during our seafood festival, as well as a bold red to accompany heartier entrees.  These wines can be purchased by the glass, or paired with our a la carte entrees as a flight, and include:

  1. 2017 Rosé Rosalba, Piepaolo Pecorari (Friuli, Italy) – a crisp, dry Rosé created from a blend of Cabernet, Refosco and Merlot.
  2. 2016 Chara, Feudo Disisa (Sicily, Italy) – A tropical, balanced white blend of Catarratto and Inzolia.
  3. 2011 Collefrisio Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Semis (Abruzzo, Italy) – a bold and centered red comprised of a proprietary blend of rare grapes.
